Right now is the best time to create your tomorrow.
For the past six years, I’ve been pursuing a career in marketing and was most recently the Director of Marketing in the commercial real estate industry. I was focused on achieving corporate success which to me, meant a promotion, a raise, a bonus, and industry recognition. But another part of me had been dreaming of a different life - one that John and I had been discussing for 4.5 years.
When we talked about it though, it never felt like it would happen tomorrow.
For almost ten years, John has been developing a clothing brand by creating apparel inspired from his travel and lifestyle photography. In 2017, he quit his job to pursue the brand full time. His ambition, creativity, and willingness to take risk is something I’ve always admired about him and one of the reasons I fell in love with him.
And for the past 4.5 years I’ve been helping with the brand’s journey as much as possible. And now, it was time for me to make the same leap that he did in 2017, and put all of my energy and focus into building the brand with him and start living the life we’ve been dreaming of.
Now, Johnny Vacay designs will be created from our travels and we will continue to share the story of our adventures.
The new collection created from Mexico looks completely different from prior collections. The brands core will remain the same, stemming from John’s incredibly talented art of photography, and transforming his photos into wearable art. There’s vibrant colors, text from hand-painted Mexican signs, and imagery of surfers and sailors.
A lot of people were surprised by how different the collection looks... we hope you can appreciate the creative risk and like the way it looks. Our aim is to bring something new and interesting with every future collection, while maintaining the Johnny Vacay core.
